Just an FYI to all the bikers, I would hate to have anyone learn the hard way... These are prices as of Feb 2009.

Yeah, you have seen the bikes with the sideways mounted license plates or ones that are not visible. You now have all the reason in the world to get that fixed if your bike is like that.

The first offense ticket for an improper tag is a fine of $1,144. The second offense is $2,644. Dont ask me why its so much, its obviously rediculous, but that is the info I have, and I would not wish that fine on anyone for something so stupid.

For the people who like doing wheelies, and I would imagine that stoppies would be included as well: The ticket prices are the same as above for the improper tags... $1,144 for first offense, $2,644 for second offense.

I am just the messenger, I think they are both... freaking retarded insane fines... but yeah.

Yeah, thats how it is now, fucking retarded, the wheelie and the 50 over, ok, but the tag is ridiculous.

wow and swingarm mounted tag that is easy to see would be a gay reason to get a ticket. I think they are just trying to make extra money. The stunts I can understand , and a plate that they can't see yes I agree. Fuck the dumb shit.

I don't understand the swingarm mounted plate thing anyways. Seems dumb to me... especially the fine! If you can't see the plate at all... then a $200 or $300 fine would be too much... but over a grand??

As for the wheelies... then I don't think the police should do anything if the riders are doing so in an extremely unpopulated road with zero traffic... if the riders are dumb enough to do it, then let them fuck themselves up. No biggie. But if they're on the smallest of actual roads, then a wheelie fine should for sure be about a grand.

Yeah the fines are rediculous. All they do is give low wage sport bikers more of an incentive to run when flashed by the cops. I would be much more inclined to pull over if I knew that doing so wouldn't set me back almost a months worth of wages. As for the wheelie law I think that anyone caught doing stunts on US 41 or other such road deserves a $1000 ticket. Dont' get me wrong I love stunting and do it all the time but theres a place for it and its called the parking lot.

I agree with everyone... anyone with common sense would say that if you knew you were going to get a freaking $1000+ ticket for something as stupid as a sideways tag... you would have so much more incentive just to twist the throttle and boogie.

Of course, there lies the difference between the freaking suits up in the state government, and the common citizens.

And I do know that wheelies are obviously dangerous, since some people will do them through busy intersections, when old morons might drive in front of them, but the fine is still quite a bit excessive.

yea i agree with wheelies. i cant do them even if i tried lol. but some tags are kind of iffy from the factory. so theres already going to be issues.

the tag ones are too high but the wheelie ones arent. sorry but seriously? dont do wheelies on the street lol. if you want to be a stunter, find some abandoned industrial area or something, and if you get busted there, accept the fact that you are trespassing (which is the fine that you would get). the cops are sick of people doing wheelies and stupid shit just because they have a bike, so theyre fed up. its understandable. theres a lot of sport bike guys who have made a bad name for the rest of us. but its not like its 1% of the sport bike population.

i know you do, and some guys who have been riding forever are really in control when they do them, but the vast majority of guys that ride really arent. the reason so many people get hurt on them is usually because of inexperience. its like drifting on the street. were still going to do it, but you cant try to fight the fact that its not within the law lol, if you get caught, just take the punishment and move on, because you know that you really should be at an event anyways.

These new laws and fines are just going to make more people run from the cops. Good thinking!

its people like u that ruin things

a wheelie will only kill the rider... and drifting on the street, big deal, just make sure theres no one around u

in my opinion the ticket/fine should be based on the traffic around u, if no one is around u and u wipe out a tree, then u pay to replace the tree... end of story

orly? you understand that doing that shit in traffic CAN have a serious domino effect? it's a possibility you could wipe out on a turtle crossing the road, and your spinning corpse and bike fly across 3 lanes of traffic and people smash into each other trying to avoid it.

just saying. be smart about that shit and do it away from traffic, at least get a good lead on it anyways

Holy ancient thread. And 3 months later, nothing intelligent can be added to it as was just illustrated.
